Victoria Beckham Perfectly Curtsies to Queen Camilla at Royal Reception: All About the Protocol

Victoria Beckhamhad the poshest curtsy forQueen Camillawhen the royal said hello at a Buckingham Palace reception.

On March 11, the fashion designer and Spice Girls singer dipped into a superb curtsy when greeting the Queen, 77, at a palace reception celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Women of the World (WOW) Festival. Queen Camilla has supported WOW since its inception in 2010 and hosted the palace party to mark the milestone.

Beckham opted for a curtsy and handshake when meeting the Queen on Monday, in a modern mix of old and new.

“Victoria, nice to see you. Did you enjoy the Italian dinner at Highgrove? It was good fun,” Queen Camilla asked her guest as they had a bit of banter. The royal was referring to the Italian-inspired dinner she and King Charles hosted at Highgrove House, his country home, on Feb. 7, which the designer and her husband,David Beckham, attended. The former England soccer captain is an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, the sovereign’s longtime charity promoting sustainability through practical training, which sent students and alumni to the glam banquet before the King and Queen’s trip to Italy in April.

“It was a lot of fun, thank you so much,” Beckham said about the Highgrove dinner, whichStanley Tucci,Helen Mirrenand the Italian Ambassador to the U.K. also attended.

The Beckhams have been seeing a lot of the British royals in recent months, as David and Victoria were also at thestate banquetat Buckingham Palace honoring the Amir of Qatar during his official visit in December 2024. The couple’s appearance was not announced in advance, making their presence a surprise for royal watchers.

Both Victoria and David, 49, have received royal honors for their professional accomplishments. David received his OBE fromQueen Elizabethfor services to soccer in 2003, while Victoria was awarded an OBE in 2017 for her work in fashion and charity.

Some wondered if David was tipped for afuture knighthoodafter hesigned onas an ambassador for the King’s Foundation in June 2024, and the retired soccer star recently described himself as a “huge royalist” during a January interview at the World Economic Forum.

“I always get emotional talking about anything that I do with our royal family, because I’ve always been a huge royalist. I was brought up in a household that adored and loved everything that came with the royal family,” he said then.
