Spotify Wrappedkicks off the holiday season with one of the greatest gifts of all for music lovers: their yearly listening experience recapped.

Every year, Spotify releases their annual recap called Spotify Wrapped. Each Spotify user receives an individual compilation that summarizes their listening habits that year including data such as their top listened to artists, songs, albums and podcasts.
The streaming app also customizes the Wrapped experience annually with various new interactive elements. In 2023, this included finding out the listener’s aura and which city in the world listened to the most similar type of music to them.
Spotify also releases Wrapped for artists, which shows their top songs, the number of minutes their music was streamed and where in the world people were most listening to them.

The Spotify Wrapped release date has never been shared ahead of time, with the music platform typically surprise-dropping the recap.
While there have been reports that the streamer will release Wrapped on Dec. 4, Spotify has not confirmed the date.

In past years, Spotify Wrapped has come out mid-week in the last week of November or the first week of December.
Up until 2021, the streamer released the recap in the first couple of days of December. However, for the past two years, it’s been released on the last Wednesday of November.

Yes, ahead of the launch of 2024 Spotify Wrapped, the music platform said in a news release that users should make sure to have the most updated version of the app.
“Wrapped is almost here,” the company said in a Nov. 27 news release. “And one of the keys to getting the best Wrapped experience is making sure your Spotify app is up-to-date.”
To ensure the app is updated, users can head to the app store and check if there’s updates available. If not, then it is already on the latest version.
This is important, Spotify notes, so that people can enjoy all the features Wrapped has to offer this year, including embeds on Instagram and TikTok.
“If your phone isn’t set to update the app automatically and you haven’t manually updated it in a while, you may be missing out on some pretty great features,” the company wrote.

The question of when Spotify stops tracking a person’s listening data has been contested after an employee of the streamer toldNewsweekin 2021 that the gathering ends on Oct. 31.
“The reason we have this hard cut-off is just for the sake of campaign logistics,” Brendan Codey, associate director for creator growth and programs at Spotify, told the outlet.
“We need to QA the site and we need to finalize assets for Wrapped, all of which takes a while. You throw Thanksgiving into the mix as well and we have even less time,” he added.
This would mean that all listening experiences in November and December would be excluded from the data, since the platform doesn’t begin tracking for Wrapped again until January.
However, Spotify refuted this claim in a 2023 post onX(formerly Twitter), writing, “Hmm, that doesn’t sound right to us. Don’t worry, Wrapped is still counting past Oct. 31 👀.”
