ActorNicolas Cagehas had several high-profile relationships throughout his career.

TheNational Treasurestar has been married five times, something he has credited to a “quest for life experience.” He explained to PEOPLE in January 2020, “I had wanderlust. I wanted to go everywhere, see everything, and experience everything. … I don’t have any regrets because I think everything leads to something.”

Cage wed fellow actressPatricia Arquettein April 1995, and they split after about five years. He went on to tie the knot withLisa Marie Presleyin August 2002 before filing for divorce three months later. Cage then married his third wife, Alice Kim, in July 2004, and they were together for over a decade. Eventually, the actor wed makeup artist Erika Koike in March 2019, but they filed for divorce four days later.

Today, he’s married to his fifth wife,Riko Shibata, whom he wed in February 2021. “This is it for me,” he toldGQthe following year, calling her “the one.”

Still, Cage has kept in touch with a few of his exes because oftheir children, like son Weston. The actor shares his eldest with his ex-girlfriend,Christina Fulton. Currently, Cage and Fulton are in the middle of a lawsuit after shesued both him and Westonfor an alleged April 2024 incident.

Fans speculated about a relationship between Cage and actressBrooke Shields, in 1987 after he brought Shields as his date to the premiere ofMoonstruck.

While neither has ever spoken about the rumored romance, Cage and Shields posed for photos together on the red carpet.

Cage was first spotted with American model and actress Christina Fulton in October 1988 at Michael Dukakis' presidential campaign fundraiser at the Los Angeles nightclub Palette. The pair broke up after welcoming their only child together — a son namedWeston Coppola Cage, born on Dec. 26, 1990.

The former couple’s relationship turned contentious in later years. In 2009, Fulton sued Cage for $13 million, claiming that he didn’t allow her and Weston to continue living in the home the actor bought for them, according toCBS News. They eventuallyagreed on a settlementin 2011.

Over the years, Weston has dealt withdrug and substance abuse, which caused further tension between his parents as they tried to help him.

More recently, in April 2024,reports surfacedthat Fulton and Weston were allegedly involved in a verbal dispute that turned physical. At the time, Fulton claimed she was trying to help Weston during a “mental health crisis” but in February 2025, shesued both Cage and Westonin response to the alleged physical attack.

Fulton’s lawsuit claims that Cage ignored Weston’s mental health concerns, which led to the incident. She also alleged that her injuries included a brain concussion, multiple contusions, a disfiguring eye injury, dental trauma, PTSD and psychological damages that required “extensive medical care, surgeries, and treatments.”

“Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man,” the statement read. “Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior in any manner and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault of his mother.”

Cage began dating actressKristen Zangin 1992. The pair were in a relationship for two years, during which they attended high-profile events together, including the premiere ofA Few Good Menin 1992 and the 50th AnnualGolden Globe Awardsin 1993.

After they split, Cage and Zang remained friendly. They posed for a photo at the Hard Rock Cafe’s opening night party in Las Vegas in October 1995, six months after Cage married Patricia Arquette.

Zang went on to dateLeonardo DiCapriofrom 1995 until 1999. In 2022, she exclusively told PEOPLE she washappily marriedand living a private life in Oregon, where she had her own dog food business.

Cage first met actressPatricia Arquetteat Canter’s Deli in L.A. in 1987, when she was 19. He immediately said he would marry her and offered to do anything to prove himself to her.

According to the actress, they split after a public disagreement. “We dated, and then we broke up. It was just too fast and too much for me at that time,” she added.

The pair tied the knot in Carmel, Calif., in April 1995 — just two weeks after Arquette proposed to Cage on the phone. They had a seemingly rocky relationship for the next five years, including periods when they lived separately.

“There were times when we weren’t living together because we were fighting, but it wasn’t as reported and I didn’t feel that I needed to explain that,” she toldThe Telegraphin February 2015, adding that there were personal and professional matters they were occupied with.

Cage and Arquette separated “mutually and respectfully” in 2000, and their divorce was finalized a year later.

Cage metElvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, at a party in 2000. The pair had an on-and-off relationship before marrying on Aug. 10, 2002; they filed for divorce only three months later. Their marriage officially ended on May 24, 2004.

Presley attended several important events with Cage while they were together, including his hand and footprint ceremony in August 2001, the 16th Annual American Cinematheque Award ceremony for Cage in October 2001 and the premiere ofWindtalkersin June 2002.

Though the couple split, they both spoke fondly of their time together. “That particular relationship was really based on humor. We had a lot of laughs together,” Cage toldThe Guardianin July 2013. “Much was made about it because of her father and whatnot, but we had a simple relationship, in my opinion."

Presley diedat the age of 54 on Jan. 12, 2023. “Lisa had the greatest laugh of anyone I ever met,” Cage said in a statement after her death. “She lit up every room, and I am heartbroken.”

Cage’s longest relationship was with his third wife, Alice Kim. The actor, then 40, met Kim, then 19, in February 2004 when she was working as a waitress in L.A.

They married in July 2004 — two months after Cage finalized his divorce from Presley — so Kim could accompany him to South Africa, where he was filmingLord of War.

Later that same year,National TreasureproducerJerry Bruckheimertold PEOPLE that the couple were a great match. “He loves her and that’s really nice to see,” he said. “She makes him very happy.”

The pair welcomed their son,Kal-El Coppola Cage, on Oct. 3, 2005. “Alice is very, very happy, and the three are doing extremely well,” Cage’s publicist Annett Wolf told PEOPLE.

Over a decade later, the couplefiled for divorce in 2016.

Cage went public with his relationship with makeup artistErika Koikein April 2018 when they were spotted on vacation in Puerto Rico.

Less than a year later, in March 2019, theyapplied for a marriage licensein Las Vegas, where theyappeared to be disagreeingduring the process. Just four days later, Cagerequested an annulment, and they weregranted a divorcethat same May.

He also noted that Koike didn’t “disclose to [Cage] the full nature and extent of her relationship with another person” or inform him of her “criminal history.”

Cage was introduced to his fifth wife, Riko Shibata, through mutual friends in 2020. “We met in Japanand I thought she was stunning when I met her,” he toldEntertainment Tonight.

He continued, “We had a lot in common. She likes animals, too. So, I asked her, ‘Do you have any pets?’ And she said, ‘Yes, I have flying squirrels.’ She had two sugar gliders. … I thought, ‘That’s it. This, this could work out.’ "

They were first photographed together in February 2020 whilevisiting a pyramid-shaped tombin a New Orleans cemetery. A week later, they werespotted holding handsat the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

After Cage proposed to Shibata over FaceTime, theytied the knoton Feb. 16, 2021.

“It’s true, and we are very happy,” Cage confirmed to PEOPLE. His rep said the affair was a “very small and intimate wedding at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas,” with the date honoring “the birthday of thegroom’s late father.”

They celebrated the nuptials with Cage’s son Kal-El and ex-wife Kim. “I’m really happily married. I know five is a lot, but I think I got it right this time,” he told theLos Angeles Times.

The duo made their red carpet debut at the premiere ofPigin July 2021,were featured on the cover ofFlauntmagazinein October andwalked the red carpetat theGQMen of the Year party that November.

In April, Cage revealed onThe Kelly Clarkson Showthat they werehaving a girl, whose name would also honor his late father,August Coppola, who died in 2009.

“Her name is going to be Lennon Augie, Augie after my father,” he said. “I’ll call her Lenny for short.”

Their daughter was born on Sept. 7, 2022, and they settled on the name August Francesca Coppola Cage. “Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce thebirth of their daughter,” their rep told PEOPLE. “Mother and daughter are doing fine.”
