Drue Tranquilland his wife,Jackie Tranquill, have a love story as old as time.

The couple first connected when they were teenagers roaming the same halls. “We met [during] our junior year of high school after I moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Fort Wayne, Indiana,” Jackie toldWedding Dayin 2019. “We hit it off right away.”

While Drue and Jackie were both set to study at Purdue University, he decommitted after receiving an offer to play at Notre Dame. During this time, the athlete made his mark on the Fighting Irish andhe proposed to his longtime girlfriendin July 2017 when she was studying abroad.

By the time Drue graduated college and was drafted into the NFL, Jackie was along for the ride as his wife afterthey marriedin July 2018. Since then, the now-Kansas City Chiefs linebackerand former health educator have welcomed three children: Elijah, Anna and Mackenzie.

Fast forward to today, Drue’s family will be cheering for him as he and the Chiefs go up against the Philadelphia Eagles at the 2025 Super Bowl on Feb. 9 in New Orleans.

She and Drue are high school sweethearts

After Jackie moved from Memphis, Tenn., to Fort Wayne, Ind., she met Drue when they were both juniors at Carroll High School.

The pair haven’t shared many details about how their relationship started but Jackie has given glimpses of the early days. To celebrate Drue’s debut as an NFL quarterback in 2019, she posted throwback photoson Instagram, showcasing their romance over the years.

In one snap, Drue and Jackie were photographed together donning Carroll High School’s blue and white gear. At the time, he was on the football team and she was a cheerleader.

She’s a graduate of Purdue University

After graduating from high school, Jackie didn’t stray too far from her new home — or from Drue. She opted to attend Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., where she completed a bachelor of science in dietetics, perher Facebook.

Although Drue had originally committed to Purdue with Jackie, he decided to decommit after receiving an offer from Notre Dame University in Saint Joseph County, Ind.

During this time, the couple dated long-distance and Jackie kept up with both her classes and school activities. While studying at Purdue, she was also part of theKappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

They got engaged in Iceland in 2017

Jackie’s college education took her to Europe, where she studied abroad in England. While there, Jackie alsovisited various countriesover summer break, and Drue met her in Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík, where he popped the question.

“He surprised me in Iceland at a beautiful lighthouse on the ocean and immediately got on one knee to propose,” she told Wedding Day.

In honor of their relationship milestone, Jackie posted a photo of them after she said “yes"on Instagram.

“Can’t wait to marry the man who I love and respect more than anyone in this world🌍 It feels like a dream!!” she captioned it.

She married Drue in 2018

After getting engaged in Iceland, Drue and Jackie exchanged wedding vows at home in Fort Wayne.

Speaking to Wedding Day, Jackie explained that she wanted their special day to merge style and faith, as both she and Drue are Christian.

“I am a classic Southern girl so I knew I wanted to keep things simple and clean, yet elegant,” she said. “My faith is also something really important to me, so I knew I wanted to have the ceremony in a church and I am so glad I did. It was wonderful!”

“Watching my bride walk down the aisle was the most precious moment of my entire life,” he wrote. “Thank you for lighting up my world Mrs. Tranquill, life is so much fun with you!!!”

She worked as a health and wellness educator

Jackie parlayed her education in dietetics into a career in wellness.

As an undergraduate student, she worked as a dietetic intern at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs before completing another internship at King’s College Hospital NHS in London, England.

When Drue was drafted into the NFL in 2019, the married pair moved to the West Coast, where he joined theLos Angeles Chargersas a linebacker. In the years since,Jackie has helpedsupport him at home with their family and on the field cheering on his team.

They share three kids

Drue and Jackie first became parents when their son, Elijah James, was born on May 24, 2019.

Shortly after, the new mom announced his arrivalon social media, writing, “We are praising Jesus for this sweet gift! This little guy has his Mom and Daddy’s whole heart already♥️.”

Nearly two years later, the couple welcomed their second child, daughter Anna Grace, on April 26, 2021. “We are in love💗,”Jackie captionedfamily photos.

The following fall, Drue and Jackie’s daughter, Mackenzie Joy, was born on Nov. 17, 2022. Having arrived just before Thanksgiving,the pair sharedthat they had “a little extra to be grateful for this year.”

Now, Jackie frequently shares photos of their familyattending football games,celebrating holidaysand otherspecial occasions.
