A wife is airing out her dirty laundry about what her husband told her when she returned home from the hospital following a recent surgery.
The U.K. woman turned to Reddit’s“Am I the A——?” forumon Feb. 6 to explain that her gallbladder removal surgery “went well” the previous day, but that her reception at home didn’t go as well as she had hoped.

She then walked into a messy living room, which she said was “annoying.”
“But my husband had made sure my pillow was on the sofa like I’d asked for earlier, and it’s hard work looking after three kids,” she noted.
“I had barely sat down five minutes when my husband turns to me and says, ‘Oh I don’t mean to have a go at you since you just got home from surgery but can you please STOP putting my football shirts in the dryer since it ruins them, I’ve told you before they can’t go in there,’ ” she recalled.
“I was a bit taken back, like is this really the best time to bring this up??” she remembered wondering. “And for the record I don’t think it’s wrong of him to not want his shirts ruined but really?! This is the time you’re going to bring it up?! No, ‘Do you need anything? Do you need any medication? Are you comfortable?’ Nah, just ‘My shirts!’ ”

Despite not recalling ever ruining the shirts, she apologized.
“I don’t remember putting them in the washing machine, or the dryer, and I don’t remember folding one up when the dryer finished either so all I could say was sorry,” she explained, before deciding to tell him off. “I was like, ‘You know what? Do your own f—— laundry then, then if anything gets damaged, that’s on you. Don’t have your stuff ready for work? That’s your problem. And don’t ever f—— bother asking me to iron anything either.”
Wondering if she’s “being overly petty,” the stay-at-home mom of three asked fellow Redditors, “AITA [am I the a——] for refusing to do my husband’s laundry anymore after he had a go at me after surgery?”

The marital-spat story incited more than 500 responses in four days, with the majority of commenters telling her she’s “NTA [not the a——].”
“It’s not about the shirts, it’s about the timing and lack of care,” one Redditor emphasized. “Dude couldn’t even say ‘How are you feeling?’ before complaining? If he’s that picky he can do his own laundry. Maybe then he’ll appreciate the effort.”
Some people reminded her that being a stay-at-home momisalso work.
“You have young kids. You work all week too. You just don’t get paid,” another person replied. “If you weren’t home with the children, he’d either have to pay or do himself: the child care, the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning, the shopping and arranging time, buying supplies for all of those things … You and HE should value your work too.”
