A newly released 911 call reveals the moment that a New Jersey woman asked for help after her neighbor allegedly shot both her and her husband before killing himself.
WNBChas shared audio of the moment Jill Kwatkoski alerted authorities to the then-active shooter in her neighborhood in Berkeley Township, N.J., on Monday, March 10.
Aspreviously reported, 54-year-old John Adamo allegedly shot Jill inside of her home after shooting her husband, Tom Kwatkoski, outside of the home on March 10. The Berkeley Township Police Department (BTPD) was first alerted to the scene around 4:45 p.m. local time, before the married couple were airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J, in critical but stable condition.
A spokesperson for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE on March 14 that Tom was still listed in critical but stable condition and Jill was listed in stable condition as of March 12.
After the dispatcher asked Jill where she was shot, she confirmed it was her left leg and that she believed her neighbor shot “more than 3” rounds. She also revealed that she was attacked with what “looked like a rifle” and that there was “blood everywhere.”
“Please get the cops here, I’m bleeding to death. I can’t leave my kids,” Jill said on the call, which WNBC shared on Thursday, March 13. “If I do, please tell them that I love them.”

The suspect then “retreated” into his home before the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team and the Ocean County Regional SWAT-Crisis Negotiating Team responded to the scene, having “surrounded” his property in an attempt to get him to surrender.
After two-and-a-half hours, authorities entered the home and discovered Adamo in his upstairs bedroom, “deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” per the BTPD.
The SWAT team also discovered a pressure cooker inside the home and had neighbors evacuated for safety concerns, before the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad confirmed it was not an explosive.
Speaking toThe New York Postafter the shooting, a neighbor shared that the Kwatkoski family had cameras facing Adamo’s house with a “No Trespassing” sign, noting that they “don’t know what was going on with them, but it was back and forth and going on for years.”
“They’ve been in a longtime dispute. I don’t know what brought it to that point. They have the cameras aimed at each other’s houses, but in my book they were all nice,” neighbor Joe Spicciatie toldCBS New York.
“We’re all friends in the neighborhood and, you know, we have parties together,” Louie Pascalli added. “[There was] always friction, but never anything serious like this.”
According to WNBC, citing police records, authorities responded to the neighbors' homes six times in the past year.
