A woman narrowly avoided disaster when acar crashedinto her living room seconds after she stepped out of the room, according to multiple reports and the Sydney Police Department.

Vanessa Bolas of the Sydney Police Department in Australia confirmed to PEOPLE that emergency services were called to a residence on Whitford Road in the suburb of Hinchinbrook at around 7:30 p.m. local time on Jan. 31 after receiving reports that “a vehicle crashed into the wall of a house.”

“The driver, a 25-year-old man, and his passenger, a 29-year-old woman, were uninjured. The occupants of the home were uninjured,” Bolas added.

Bolas said that “officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.”

Medramo told the outlet that she had been in the living room only seconds earlier.

“It was just two seconds,” she recalled. “Two seconds I was from the room — just went out to get something.”

Medramo said that she called her grown daughter after the incident “in tears,” recalling that “I didn’t know what to do."

Neighbors told the outlet that they were instantly alerted that something was wrong due to the sound of the crash.

“All of a sudden, I heard a big bang, a massive bang,” one neighbor said.

Another remembered feeling “really scared” when Medramo and her husband — who have lived in the home for 35 years, according to 9 News — did not immediately emerge from the house after the crash.

“Thankfully, they did," the neighbor said.

“It’s very [hurtful] because we’ve been here for so long,” Medramo told the outlet.
