Woman Makes Plans to Leave After Her Husband Picks a Super Bowl Party Over Her 40th Birthday Celebration

After one husband chose to watch the Super Bowl instead of celebrating his wife’s 40th birthday, she decided to celebrate without him instead. Now the woman is seeking advice from the Reddit community on whether she made the right decision.

The woman recently shared her dilemma about her upcoming 40th birthday, which falls on Super Bowl Sunday. The woman had initially planned a getaway with her husband.

However, her plans were derailed when her football-loving spouse insisted on watching the Super Bowl instead. “All I wanted was a quiet, romantic weekend with my husband,” she explains inher post. “I told him weeks ago that I wanted us to go away.”

Despite her husband’s initial agreement, he quickly changed his mind when he realized the day it landed on. “He’s a HUGE football fan. He watches every game, every year,” she adds.

But in a turn of events, the woman’s best friend suggested a weekend ski trip, which is what she had originally envisioned for her birthday celebration. She decided to seize the opportunity and claim her special day. “We’re going to hit the slopes, get massages, and just have a fantastic, drama-free time," she writes.

However, her decision did not sit well with her husband. “He’s saying I’m being selfish, that I’ve ruined everything,” she writes. It was then revealed that her husband had secretly planned some surprises for her birthday weekend, including a dinner with friends and a brunch with her parents.

The woman didn’t back down, though, reminding her husband of her initial wishes.

“I told him I wasn’t going to spend my 40th birthday doing something he wanted, after he ignored what I wanted. He didn’t tell me any of this and I’m a planner so, if I don’t know what’s happening, I take the reins,” she shares. “I even texted my parents to let them know I was going away, and they were totally cool with it.”

In a surprising twist, the couple managed to compromise. “Officially going skiing and the husband is coming,” the poster writes in an update. “We’re going to watch the game from the bar at the resort.” She adds, “it all worked out.”
