In a since-deleted post on Reddit’s “Am I the A——?” that drew thousands of reactions, the woman, 30, wrote that she offered up her home to her brother Alex, 27, and his 26-year-old girlfriend, Jenna, during a recent visit.

“Things started off fine, but at dinner on the first night, Jenna made things awkward. We were eating at a nice Italian restaurant, and while we were waiting for our food, Jenna started talking about how people who rent instead of owning homes are ‘financially irresponsible.’ I laughed it off at first, thinking it was a joke, but she doubled down, saying it was ‘basically throwing money away every month,’ ” the user wrote.

The woman wrote that, in an attempt to end the conversation and offer some clarity, she told Jenna that she preferred to rent because of the “flexibility” it provides given that she could be relocated for work “in the next few years.”

However, that didn’t stop Jenna from harping on the topic: “She then said, ‘Well, maybe if you stopped spending so much money on eating out, you’d be able to afford a down payment,’ ” the woman recalled.

Despite her brother telling Jenna to “drop it,” the Redditor wrote that Jenna doubled down and accused her of being “part of the reason the economy is so messed up” because she doesn’t “prioritize homeownership.”

The woman then told Jenna that she was “rude” while noting that her financial decisions are none of Jenna’s business — which led her to make a decision about Jenna’s room and board, she wrote.

“When we got back to my apartment, I told Alex privately that I didn’t feel comfortable having Jenna stay in my home anymore. He tried to apologize on her behalf, but I stood firm. I told him he was welcome to stay, but Jenna had to find another place,” the woman wrote.

Jenna “overheard” the exchange between the woman and her brother and “got upset,” accusing her of being “overly sensitive and dramatic,” the woman wrote. Jenna told her she was “taking things too personally.”

The woman’s brother promptly took Jenna’s side in the disagreement and left with her, telling his sister that she “overreacted and put him in an awkward position,” she wrote.

But the majority of fellow Reddit users who commented on the post sided with the woman’s decision to revoke Jenna’s invitation to stay at her home.

“She was outta line and rude, especially in your own home. You don’t need to put up with that energy. Alex should’ve had her back instead of putting you in an awkward spot,” one user wrote.

A third user offered simply, “Jenna learned that when you f— around, you find out.”
