Shortly after news of theSpider-Mancouple’s engagementbroke, a source told PEOPLE that “everyone is thrilled” that Holland, 28, popped the question to Zendaya, 28, because the pair are a perfect match.

“Zendaya is obviously so pretty, but it’s truly her personality that makes her perfect for Tom,” the source said. “She’s beyond sweet, very caring and makes you feel special.”

Meanwhile, theDunestar is “very outgoing with a big personality.”

“Zendaya doesn’t mind when he’s the center of attention. She sits back and lets him glow,” the source continued. “Everyone is thrilled about the engagement.”

A separate source told PEOPLEthat Holland — who first confirmed his off-screen romance with theChallengersactress in 2021 after they werespotted kissing in a car— “always knew she was the one.”

“He’s always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one. They have something very special,” the source said, noting that Holland shared the happy news with friends around New Year’s.

The source added that “everyone close to them knew the engagement was happening,” just not when.

The engagement ring appears to be a5.02ct East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back Ringfrom the London-based jewelry brand Jessica McCormack. At the awards show, theEuphoriastar took the opportunity toflash her engagement ringthroughout the evening.

SinceTMZfirst announced her engagement on Monday, Jan. 6, the bride-to-be has taken the opportunity toshow off her ring again. That evening, she wore her new rock to a special screening of her movieChallengersat the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood.
